I am also writing about the news around Cayoosh school. We had an assembly on Monday. It was about the rules in our school. At our school we are getting a new playground. We are building a robot out of old computers and other stuff like that. We are about to start building it. We have took apart a computer tower to get the circuit board. The robot’s name is Robodozer! That’s the news going around at Cayoosh school. Bye for now I am sure I’ll get back to making more blogs. Kris out.

It was a dark and stormy day. We had been at school for a week. But the important thing was that we had fun. We are planning to build a robot. We have most of the supplies. The awesome thing is that I am writing a story. It is called The Lupes [loops] Return. It is about three Lupes [wolf like creatures] that save Lupe City from Evil Monster Lupes. My best friends are Dylan, Layne, Maxwell, Kurtis, Dante, Kevin, Tyler, M, and Sebi, and last but not least Karly. I like my teacher Mr. Oakes. And that’s it for now. By me, Kristopher.

We arrived to Honolulu and we got the car from, this time, dollar rentals. We were lost driving and driving around and around. Me and mama got dropped off at a store to ... well mom says it's a mall. Well, we did our business and ate and got some stuff for the road and when they picked us up they had lo and behold a map! Well we finally found it and we did some shopping and went to sleep

To cut out the other stuff here is what we did on wonderful day 18.

Went to Pearl Harbor. saw torpedoes and ballistic missiles got into a submarine cock pit and looked at ... through periscopes and then got souvenirs mom says that, and I know, that an amazing battle took place here in WWII. After that we went snorkeling

Ok here's day 19

A short version of a military stronghold called Diamond Head (they aren't really diamonds) we hiked and took lots of pictures and we saw spectacular view of the sea and the beaches and it was a two hour long hike up and down - with pictures and it was worth it

The rest we relaxed for the vacation well maybe...whoops just wait

Day 19 and 20 fill in

We went to a Chinatown after Diamond Head and we saw cool things and also at the last day we walked on Waikiki beach and ate then went to the arcade

Getting Ready for Summer

Badminton

This weekend we put our volley-ball net up. We spray painted boundary
lines in orange. There not that strait to be honest. But who cares? At least
me and Fallon tried. Fallon, Paige, and I play badminton and volley-ball.
Usually we play volley-ball because of the winds. Sometimes our mum and dad
play with us. Fallon is really good at volley-ball. So is my mum. My dad is
really good at badminton. I am not very good at badminton but its fun. When
we play volley-ball we play it so we can catch the ball to make it easier.
Paige is still learning how to play both volley-ball and badminton. She has
a really good serve for badminton. But she still needs some work on her
serve for volley-ball. Other than that she is pretty good. My serve for
volley-ball is getting really good. A badminton serve is pretty easy. I like
volley-ball and badminton!

One More of Brandon's Blogs

Day 15
May 4, 2008

Aloha!

Today, we visited the Hamakua Macadamia Nut Company. Hamakua Macadamia Nuts are grown on the lush, green slopes of the Big Island of Hawaii's four mountain ranges. They were all grown using environmentally, friendly practices without pesticides. Macadamia nuts fall to the ground when they are ready and farmers collect them when they are ready for processing. i got to try to crack the Macadamia nut using 300 lb of pressure and they were very good. I like them raw. Macadamia nuts are good for you and are high in good fat which helps reduce bad cholesterol levels. They also are good in vitamin E., which protects against cancer and other diseases. We tried samples and they were good.

During the evening, we attended the Island Breeze Lu'au held at the beachfront and we all dressed up in matching Hawaiian outfits. When we were greeted, my mom and my sister, Abegail, received fresh leis to wear, and my dad and I received kukui nuts lei also to wear. Then, we had our picture taken, and we got one of the best seats...the front seats. There was a wonderful dinner included full of authentic Hawaiian food; poi, a mixed taro root, and kalua pig, cooked under the sand with leaves, and lau-lau puaa (pig) a piece of pork wrapped in taro leaf and wrapped again in banana leaf and steamed in an imu (the place where a kalua puaa is cooked or maybe they steamed it in a pot). It's really good, and there was even live entertainment! There was a fireknife dancer, and hula dancers, and other dancers. It was really fun. I wish I could bring you all, but we didn't have enough money because it is very expensive!

Mahalo!

Brandon's Last Words from Hawaii

Aloha!

Today, in the morning, we went out fishing. Then, in the afternoon, we visited the Blue Sky Coffee Company. There was a sample for each coffee they make and a there was a short movie to see on how they grow the coffee beans. As well, a tour guide showed us some of the coffee trees and I learned that Kona Coffee beans has become worldwide for its unique, rich flavour. For generations, the volcanic mountains of Hawaii's Big Island have produced one of the finest coffees in the world. Coffee beans can grow at an altitude of 1200 feet and over. After that, we went swimming at the pool which the hotel provided. Also, we went out fishing again, but this time it rained, and we were soaked.

Brandon's up to day 14 blog

Day 10

We just did the Hawaiian Shaka, "Hang Loose" ... Dat's it Bro'

The rest of the day, we just relaxed!

The Hawaiian word for the day "Ohana" .. which means "Family"

Day 11

We had to leave early to catch our flight to "the Big Island", Hawaii!
When we arrived, we picked up our rental car and went stopped at one of
the many scenic points on our way to our hotel, the Outrigger,
Kanaloa. The plants here grow big and wild!

We tried a new restaurant, called, "L&L". It was a BBQ place with rice. I had the combo platter ... chicken, beef and pork! I was so full!

Aloha!

Brandon

Day 12

Aloha!

We went shopping on the waterfront, downtown Kona, and rented some fins. I also bought a new mask and snorkel, which is really cool. Later we bought a fishing rod so that we could go fishing. We checked to see where we could go fishing and here, you don't need to have a fishing license. After driving around, we found a nice beach to go snorkeling. There was lots of tropical fish and we also saw sea turtles or honu. There were two big fish following me around. Maybe they were just curious or maybe they were hungry. There was a sign not to feed them, so we didn't. I was really tired that day, and I slept.

Today, I don't have a Hawaiian word for the day, but the Hawaiian King, King Kamehameha, the the one that united all the people of Hawaii.

Aloha!

Brandon

Day 13

Aloha!

I'm getting darker and darker.

Today my Dad and I spent the morning, fishing. The fish are very smart, because they kept nibbling all of the bait. We used shrimp first and it attracted the big fish. There was one big parrot fish, that I called the "naughty fish" because it kept eating all of the bait. when all the shrimp was gone, I switched to some dry cuttlefish. It is very stinky, but it works. It attracted all the other fish too. The naughty fish was waiting until I threw it out and as soon as my hook hit the water, it went straight for it. We didn't land any fish, but we had fun!

Aloha!

Brandon

Day 14

Aloha

Today we had to get up early and drive to Hilo, which is on the other side of the island. We were going to go on a helicopter tour of the Kilauea Volcanic system, which is the most active volcano in the world. We had to go to pre-flight to learn about safety, such as seat belts and life jackets, just in case we crashed!

When we got into our seats, we put on head sets so that we could hear the pilot explaining the tour. It was so cool. We lifted off and flew over Hilo and the surrounding area. We got to see the cinder cone where the lava will eventually fill the crater, like a lava lake and then it will flow over and head towards the ocean. Today there was not very much activity. There were steam vents where we could see lava flowing towards the ocean. We then flew towards the ocean where we could see the lava flowing into the ocean. There wasn't a lot, but I could see it. We were told that the surrounding water will heat to a tempature of 2000 degrees F. We also saw the many water falls and a macadamia nut farm farm. My Mother barfed in a bag.

Afterwards we went to one of the farmer's market in down town Hilo, the old area of Hilo.

We then bought lunch and went to the Japanese garden to eat. It was very nice. It had fish ponds!

Aloha ... Brandon

Brandon Days 7, 8 and 9 in Hawaii

Day 7 April 25, 2008

Today we went to Hawaiian Village Coffee to send my update, and we met a very nice lady. Her name is Toni and she is very friendly. I had a chocolate brownie and a tall glass of cold milk. It was very refreshing.

We then went to the Maui Ocean Centre and saw sharks. We also saw manta rays and many other sea creatures, like "jellies". They were very beautiful and graceful to watch. The aquarium had a coloured light shining on them so they looked like the colour of the light. We also saw sea turtles in captivity. We went through an acrylic tunnel, where the fish actually swim over and around us. It was so cool! We also had lunch at the Maui Ocean Centre at a place called, "Seascape". I had a cheeseburger and fries, and I couldn't finish it. Everything in Hawaii is big! The kids menu is like the adult portions in Canada. Also the beef tastes really good here.

Later we drove to Lahaina, where Mom and my sister, went souvenir shopping. I had ice cream from Hagen Daaz, the world's best and one of the most expensive! However, Dippin' Dots, is the most expensive because of the dots. After that we went to the Pearl Factory to get an oyster. I picked one and the guy opened it. There was a pearl in it and had a "pearl ceremony". It was expensive. I think that was pretty cool, even though it might be fake!

My Hawaiian word for today is "Kane", which means "man", which I see every time that I need to use the Men's washroom!

Aloha and Mahalo!

Brandon =)

Day 8 April 26, 2008

We got up early this morning and drove to Maalea Harbour to meet the boat called The Pride of Maui. Our first destination was Molikini to do some snorkeling. On our way it included a continental breakfast of fresh fruit, muffins and juice. After breakfast, we were fitted for fins, snokels and masks. Before going into the water, we had to defog our masks. The water was crystal blue and calm. When we snorkeled, me and Dad, found Milletseed Butterfly fish. I don't know if I found surgeon fish, but I think I saw it. We saw lots of Sea Urchins and tonnes of Brain Coral. Then we got back on the boat and headed to turtle lagoon. We had, yet another, BBQ cheese burger, but this time I finished it. I asked if I could have another one, but my sister said, "No", even though, they said that we could have seconds. We saw tonnes of turtles and they were so cute, when they surfaced. They normally can stay underwater for 20 minutes, but the longest recorded time for a sea turtle is 2 hours.

We had a great time!

My Hawaiian word for today is "A'a". It is a type of rough lava, that still has chunks of rocks in it.

Aloha and Mahalo!

Brandon =)

Day 9 April 27, 2008

Today, we had to get up at 2:30 a.m. to watch the sunrise on Haleakala Crater. It has a whopping 10,000 foot elevation. I think that I got altitude sickness. I felt dizzy and sick. My Mom felt like barfing! When we first arrived, it was so cold, that I nearly froze my butt off, but it was very beautiful watching the sun rise over the clouds. I found out how to warm my hands. I went to the washroom and used the hand dryer. The road down from Haleakela was very winding, but I fell asleep. We had brunch at Kala Lodge. I had the "Mountain" breakfast, the biggest breakfast there was, and I finished everything!

Now, I am here, at the Hawaiian Village.

Maybe there will be more to come!

My Hawaiian word for today is "Pahoehoe", which is another type of lava, which is smooth.

Aloha and Mahalo!

Aloha!

DAY 5
April 23, 2008

Today, we went to Boss Frog's to rent flippers and snorkels. We drove to Ke'e Beach and we went snorkeling. I saw lots of tropical fish, such as parrot fish, blue-striped snapper, and lots more. I took pictures underwater. It was fun! We also watched hula dancing show in the marketplace, which they have every Wednesday. After supper, we went swimming in the pool in the condo we are staying. I learned that all the coral reefs are alive, even though they look dead. To preserve nature you must be very careful.

DAY 6
April 24, 2008

We arrived in Maui from Kauai at 11 in the morning. We rented a car from Budget Car Rental. We drove to Lahaina, had lunch, and walked around town. I noticed that it is a big city, and there are lots of parking meters, and tourists everywhere, busy place. We did a little bit of shopping, and had dinner at China Boat restaurant. Just between you and me, I did not like the food :-( I ate some of it because I was hungry.

PS. Unfortunately, we cannot send pictures again through email :,-(
APS.Aloha means hello and bye bye

T's Report

The Stay At My Aunts House

I stayed at my Aunt Amanda’s house for 4 long days, I slept in my little cousin’s bedroom. My cousin and I went to the BMX track almost everyday. One day we saw Blake. At the BMX track we also flew Dean’s kite. It was fun, except I hurt myself because the bearing on my bike bent. Blake jumped over Marshall, but was too afraid to hurt his bike. The next day we played basketball with my cousin’s new basketball net.On Saturday we drove out on the west Pavilion road to see where Grandma Martha used to live.We
went shopping for breakfast. Then Marshalls cousin Kendall and her family came over for breakfast. After we ate we played basketball and I fractured my finger. On Monday my mom came home from Alberta. I had a lot of fun staying at my aunt’s house.

Brandon's Hawaii Report

Day 1 (April 19)

We arrived at Honolulu 11:45 Hawaiian time, waited 4 hours, then finally arrived in Kauai. We took the shuttle bus to car rental on way to Outrigger Hotel, Lae Nani We saw lots of palm trees, coconut trees, and wild chickens with lots of chicks and roosters everywhere.

We went to the Coconut Market Place and had dinner at TC's Grill. I had a New York steak with fries. After all that traveling, I was really tired and went right to sleep!

I learned that in Hawaii, to some people, the wild chickens are pests, but no one has the heart or will to kill them, so they run free! At the crack of dawn, they make a lot of noise, cocka doodle dooing!

Day 2 (April 20)

After breakfast, we went swimming at the back of the hotel. First, we went to the enclosed, lava rock pool and we saw tonnes of tropical fish. I think I saw a type of butterfly fish. After, we went to the ocean part and went "current racing". We went to the wave area where the current came across the beach and swept you along by your bottom.

I learned that you can get easily sunburned because Abegail and Dad, got sunburned! So try to take a break and put on plenty of sun screen, at least, every two hours.

Day 3 (April 21)

Today, we went sight seeing to the Waimea Canyon. It was spectacular! I saw red dirt, the kind they used to stain clothing, called the "Red Dirt" Shirt. I have a hat stained by red dirt, if you are not convinced. I also have a picture of me in a big big big Aloha shirt ... I mean really big!!!

I learned that you have to spend your money wisely because you can run out of money fast! So make sure you take your time and shop very carefully and look for the best deals. Since you are on Vacation, you should take your time.

So that's it for now ... Aloha!

Hockey and Bailey's Story

FLOOR HOCKEY TODAY

IN FLOOR HOCKEY TODAY MY TEAM WON WE WON BY TWO GOALS. I WAS ON Nicks team. Nick got two goals. That was both of our goals. We had a shutout in other words we won and the other team didn’t even get a goal. I was goalie for one period then I switched with Ely. There was this one save Ely did he was kind of on the side of the net and the puck and he save I liked that save.

Star power
Once upon a time lived a queen named Rosalina. She watched over the star chilrdren called Luma's. They lived together on a galaxy called the gateway to the starry sky. The galaxy was lit by a beacon powered by power stars.

One morning Rosalina woke up to discover that her beacon was dimmer than usual./ Under a closer inspection she realized that one of the power stars had been stolen. The queen was devistated. All of the luma's did not come out of the obsevitory for days.

Until a man came looking for his princess. His name was Mario. One late afternoon while Mario was on his jouney to find his princess he stummbled across Roslina. Mario explaned why he was there and asked if she could help,. Rosalina said "yes but only on one condition you help us fnd the power star to generate the beacon". Mario agreed without hesitation.

News from the Cayoosh Kidz

Hi
I am Terry and I’m today’s blogger and I am going to talk about my Spring break. My school gets two weeks, last year we only got one week. I am going to my sister’s house on March. 15/2008 or we might go on the 16,17,18th.. My sister is twenty-four years old and she lives in Hope. My sister already has a baby her name is Breanne and she is four years old her Dads name is Howard but he told Breanne, Kyle and I to call him Dude. My sister lives beside the river, I like going there because I like going down to the river and playing in the sand. Sometimes we go for a walk on the sand with my sister, Dude, Breanne, Kyle and I. Once we saw a cub bear swimming over the Frazer river. It is going to be so much fun!!!!!!!!

ALL OF OUR BONE HEAD CHALLENGES THIS YEAR SO FAR

This year we have had lots of bone head challenges starting with all the grades trying to defeat us, but so far no one has been able to take us. We have had 3 challenges and there are lots more coming up. The grade 7’s tried to steel it from us but they gave it back. They tried to steel it because we tied the challenge of basketball 12 to 12. It was an exciting game. The other challenge was against the grade 6’s in extreme dodge ball. They were too easy for us. Because we tied the basketball game they challenged us in extreme dodge ball after spring break. I hope we win all the other bone head challenges this.

By nick and Stewart

Hi this is Genna as this week’s blog writer. I will tell you all about our skating carnival. The carnival was at our very own rec center. All of the skaters, including me where in it. Here we have a figure skating club. There they preformed a great show! There were numbers such as, Thriller, black or white from Michel Jackson.

Hi this is your friend Bay. I am here to talk to you about the Bonehead Challenge! Well today the grade sevens and sixes challenged us to a basketball game. We Accepted. We had very standard rules, every basket they got only counted as one but every basket we got counted as two. Another rule was they had to be tied together by the arm. The end of the game tied it twelve to twelve. They started to complain just because we got to keep it until they rematch us. Then at recess when Mr. Oakes was out of the classroom they snuck into the classroom and took it, their teacher caught them and they had to put it back. Silly grade 7s. Byes see you next time!!

Blog!

Hi I am Skyler I am this weeks Bolger for you I am going to tell you what I am going to tell you about my Spring break I am going to go to Darcy on march 19\08 and my uncle will come to my house this weekend and my mom’s dad will come too. It will be fun and my other uncle might come too.

Lucey and Her New Dolly

One day there was a little girl named lucey. She always played with her, doll named daisy. Sometimes they had tea parties together. But one day lucey and her mom went to swimming lessons. She loved to go swimming! Then she brought her dolly daisy to swimming and wanted to swim with her. But her mom said " no honey but I will put it in your locker for later". " Ok" said lucey " but make sure I don’t loose her". So her mom put her doll into the locker. About 20 minutes later she got of the pool and looked everywhere for her doll! She couldn’t find it so her mom said, "I will buy you a new one tomorrow" " but mom" asked lucey " what if it’s not the same"? " Well" said her mom " I’ll bet you will love it just the same". So the next day when lucey got home from school, her mom held out her brand new doll. " I love it"! Lucey said loudly. " I knew you would," said her mom. So from that day on lousy took her new doll named rose everywhere she went. And made sure she knew where it was all the time.

Connor's Report

I have been having a lot of fun in Florida. Yesterday i went to Sea World, it was fun. I went on a roller coaster called Kraken, it goes 0-65mph (over 100km/hr) in 2.5 seconds and upside down. That's fast in a little car on a track. My brothers and i had a lot of fun because we got to see dolphins, Shamu the ORca Whale. We also got to pet a Stingray and it didn't sting because it's stinger didn't work We also went to Epcot. We went on a ride called Mission space that is a simulator to mars and very cool. Plus we saw a bunch of countries and when we went to Norway we saw Vikings kind of like guys with pony tails and beards. We stood in line for 2 hours and 3 minutes to go on the ride called Soarn, it was cool because it blew the different smells of the things in your face including oranges when you flew over a orange field. Then we went to an extremely colossal fireworks show and not the wimpy ones you can buy in Canada but a huge one like we need a fire department for, it rocked. We saw a huge mushroom cloud it was cool It has been extremely great and awesome days, i couldn't asked for more from my mom and dad that's all for now Connor out

Lillooet Information

Hi! It’s me again Bay going to talk about Lillooet again. But this time it is going to be about why kids enjoy Lillooet so much. Well never seen big clear mountains before head on over cause we got what you want to see. We have local parks and most of all soccer and baseball fields. We have bears and lots of them in the summer. We have wild life. It is so much fun to just walk out of you door and see a bear or a bird or a coyote it is wonderful. Especial when you’re a kid. And we have a beautiful safe lake it is so cool to go have a dip in the summer. Well I hope you enjoyed the blog. Bye for now!Today’s Gym
Today in gym we play dodge ball. Every one wanted to get Dustin out but only Nick got Dustin out. But that was only our warm up. We also did gym Natick’s. We have to do 6 moves (or routine) and we have to present them to the whole class. And that was today’s P.E. It was very fun.

The Mile “O” Cairn

The Mile “O” Cairn was built in 1939 by a local man named Carl Lawrence. The property the cairn sits on was donated to the Village of Lillooet by my great great grandfather Joe Russell. When the cairn was built it had a water fountain on the side and a light on the top. The light consisted of a 100 watt light bulb with a glass covering. In order to turn the light on and off, there was an arm sticking out with a ring on the end that could be pushed up to turn it on, and pulled down to turn it off. It was the only street light in Lillooet at that time.

About 6:00 p.m. every evening my papa, Russell Norton, and his brother Keith would walk down and turn the light on. They had a six foot long stick with a bent nail on the end which they would hook to the ring and push up to turn the light on. They would hide the stick behind the bench by the cairn and when they went home about 9:30 p.m. they would turn the light off and take the pole back home for safe keeping.

After they turned the light out, it was pitch black as there were no other lights around. When Papa’s grandfather (Joe Russell) would see the light go out at night he would say, “the light just went out, the boys are on their way home”.

Our Town Lillooet

Hello my name is Bay I am one of the Cayoosh kidz, I am your Blog writer for this week. Well this week I am going to be talking about our home town Lillooet. It is a very cool little town; we have history here like the gold rush. Isn’t that cool. Many people came here every year. I wonder how many? I am guessing over 2000 people. Also, Sir. Mathew Bagbie came to Lillooet to trial criminals, in hangman’s tree park he hung many people nobody actually knows how many. The people in Lillooet had to cut down the tree because it rotted and was going to fall over any ways. We have a museum down town Main Street and it has a lot of interesting things there and right across the street from the museum is a jade shop with polished and carved jade. Wow now that I think about it Lillooet is really interesting. Oh I almost forgot we have actually just strait across from the Hangman’s tree park there is Chinese rock pilings, Chinese people have a lot of history here in Lillooet they were at gold rush too. Well that’s the Blog for today Bay is out. See you next time hopefully!!!!!

Hey, its Dustin and Travis and we are the blog writers for this day. Today we had to read My side of the mountain and it is OK. This week we played floor hockey.

2nd floor hockey game

2nd floor hockey game

Our second floor hockey game was today. It was the Detroit redwings against the Dallas stars. It was 2 to 2 it was a pretty hard game but they had a grade sixer and its only supposes to be grade 4/5 game. Well back to the game I scored 1 goal and my team mate Blake scored a goal. The first goal was an easy one because he had an open net the goalie was on the other side of the net and Blake got a hold of the puck dodged the goalie and its in Blake scores the first goal. And the second goal was by me Dustin I intercepted the pass by Sadie and I was about at the three point line then it slides in the net its another goal and that was all the excitement for our team. Good day to people around the world By Dustin

P.E today

In p.e today we played a little bit of dodge ball. I was with Blake’s, Michaels and a lot more people. Our team won the score was 1 for us and 0 for the other team. I got out twice out of the whole game. The rules for dodge ball are that if you catch a ball one person comes on again. And if you hit the basketball back board you get two people up. It’s not as easy as you think it is. Because some of the other people on the other team are going to be watching you and that’s all about dodge ball. The next thing we played was basketball. It wasn’t as fun as dodge ball but it was o.k. I was with Connors, Michaels and lots more people. Our team won at least I think our team won I think the score was 2 to 0 for our team. Well that’s all about our P.E. for today. Have a good day to everyone around the world.

Nick Moves and Guided Reading

Jake is Moving

Jake is moving to Nakusp next Friday. I am going to miss all my friends and I hope they miss me. Nakusp is a small town by the Okanagan. I know I will like my new home. I will come visit here sometimes. I’m also going to miss my radio show with Mr Oakes. I am moving to Nakusp.

GUIDED READING

It was 11.00 0clock I just came in from recess. I went to my guided reading class, little did I know we were interviewing Ms Destrake. Her group was reading about otters. These are some of the facts we found out about otters. They have lots of fur. They can swim really good. They can hold there breath under water for a long time, it is amazing. They need there fur to survive. People from all over the world came to help when a big oil spill happened. They had to get all the otters out of that area. The rescue center was too far to take the otters to, so they built a center where they were. We learned a lot about otters today.

Dodge Ball and Important People

Today’s blog writers are Emosa and Karen. We will be telling you about P.E. This is the first week back at school and we have been playing some hard core stuff, like extreme dodgeball.

The Most Important Person

The most important person to me is my dad. My Dad is great. He teaches me things he teaches me how to play baseball and golf, he even teaches me extra school stuff he teaches all sorts of things. My dad is always there for me. When I'm sad he makes me feel better when I'm nervous to do something he talks to me and makes me want to do it. I love my Dad and that’s why he’s the most important person to me. By.Emma
