Day 17-day 20 may 6-may 9

We arrived to Honolulu and we got the car from, this time, dollar rentals. We were lost driving and driving around and around. Me and mama got dropped off at a store to ... well mom says it's a mall. Well, we did our business and ate and got some stuff for the road and when they picked us up they had lo and behold a map! Well we finally found it and we did some shopping and went to sleep

To cut out the other stuff here is what we did on wonderful day 18.

Went to Pearl Harbor. saw torpedoes and ballistic missiles got into a submarine cock pit and looked at ... through periscopes and then got souvenirs mom says that, and I know, that an amazing battle took place here in WWII. After that we went snorkeling

Ok here's day 19

A short version of a military stronghold called Diamond Head (they aren't really diamonds) we hiked and took lots of pictures and we saw spectacular view of the sea and the beaches and it was a two hour long hike up and down - with pictures and it was worth it

The rest we relaxed for the vacation well maybe...whoops just wait

Day 19 and 20 fill in

We went to a Chinatown after Diamond Head and we saw cool things and also at the last day we walked on Waikiki beach and ate then went to the arcade

Getting Ready for Summer

Badminton

This weekend we put our volley-ball net up. We spray painted boundary
lines in orange. There not that strait to be honest. But who cares? At least
me and Fallon tried. Fallon, Paige, and I play badminton and volley-ball.
Usually we play volley-ball because of the winds. Sometimes our mum and dad
play with us. Fallon is really good at volley-ball. So is my mum. My dad is
really good at badminton. I am not very good at badminton but its fun. When
we play volley-ball we play it so we can catch the ball to make it easier.
Paige is still learning how to play both volley-ball and badminton. She has
a really good serve for badminton. But she still needs some work on her
serve for volley-ball. Other than that she is pretty good. My serve for
volley-ball is getting really good. A badminton serve is pretty easy. I like
volley-ball and badminton!

One More of Brandon's Blogs

Day 15
May 4, 2008

Aloha!

Today, we visited the Hamakua Macadamia Nut Company. Hamakua Macadamia Nuts are grown on the lush, green slopes of the Big Island of Hawaii's four mountain ranges. They were all grown using environmentally, friendly practices without pesticides. Macadamia nuts fall to the ground when they are ready and farmers collect them when they are ready for processing. i got to try to crack the Macadamia nut using 300 lb of pressure and they were very good. I like them raw. Macadamia nuts are good for you and are high in good fat which helps reduce bad cholesterol levels. They also are good in vitamin E., which protects against cancer and other diseases. We tried samples and they were good.

During the evening, we attended the Island Breeze Lu'au held at the beachfront and we all dressed up in matching Hawaiian outfits. When we were greeted, my mom and my sister, Abegail, received fresh leis to wear, and my dad and I received kukui nuts lei also to wear. Then, we had our picture taken, and we got one of the best seats...the front seats. There was a wonderful dinner included full of authentic Hawaiian food; poi, a mixed taro root, and kalua pig, cooked under the sand with leaves, and lau-lau puaa (pig) a piece of pork wrapped in taro leaf and wrapped again in banana leaf and steamed in an imu (the place where a kalua puaa is cooked or maybe they steamed it in a pot). It's really good, and there was even live entertainment! There was a fireknife dancer, and hula dancers, and other dancers. It was really fun. I wish I could bring you all, but we didn't have enough money because it is very expensive!

Mahalo!

Brandon's Last Words from Hawaii

Aloha!

Today, in the morning, we went out fishing. Then, in the afternoon, we visited the Blue Sky Coffee Company. There was a sample for each coffee they make and a there was a short movie to see on how they grow the coffee beans. As well, a tour guide showed us some of the coffee trees and I learned that Kona Coffee beans has become worldwide for its unique, rich flavour. For generations, the volcanic mountains of Hawaii's Big Island have produced one of the finest coffees in the world. Coffee beans can grow at an altitude of 1200 feet and over. After that, we went swimming at the pool which the hotel provided. Also, we went out fishing again, but this time it rained, and we were soaked.

Mahalo!

Brandon's up to day 14 blog

Day 10

We just did the Hawaiian Shaka, "Hang Loose" ... Dat's it Bro'

The rest of the day, we just relaxed!

The Hawaiian word for the day "Ohana" .. which means "Family"

Day 11

We had to leave early to catch our flight to "the Big Island", Hawaii!
When we arrived, we picked up our rental car and went stopped at one of
the many scenic points on our way to our hotel, the Outrigger,
Kanaloa. The plants here grow big and wild!

We tried a new restaurant, called, "L&L". It was a BBQ place with rice. I had the combo platter ... chicken, beef and pork! I was so full!

Aloha!

Brandon

Day 12

Aloha!

We went shopping on the waterfront, downtown Kona, and rented some fins. I also bought a new mask and snorkel, which is really cool. Later we bought a fishing rod so that we could go fishing. We checked to see where we could go fishing and here, you don't need to have a fishing license. After driving around, we found a nice beach to go snorkeling. There was lots of tropical fish and we also saw sea turtles or honu. There were two big fish following me around. Maybe they were just curious or maybe they were hungry. There was a sign not to feed them, so we didn't. I was really tired that day, and I slept.

Today, I don't have a Hawaiian word for the day, but the Hawaiian King, King Kamehameha, the the one that united all the people of Hawaii.

Aloha!

Brandon

Day 13

Aloha!

I'm getting darker and darker.

Today my Dad and I spent the morning, fishing. The fish are very smart, because they kept nibbling all of the bait. We used shrimp first and it attracted the big fish. There was one big parrot fish, that I called the "naughty fish" because it kept eating all of the bait. when all the shrimp was gone, I switched to some dry cuttlefish. It is very stinky, but it works. It attracted all the other fish too. The naughty fish was waiting until I threw it out and as soon as my hook hit the water, it went straight for it. We didn't land any fish, but we had fun!

Aloha!

Brandon

Day 14

Aloha

Today we had to get up early and drive to Hilo, which is on the other side of the island. We were going to go on a helicopter tour of the Kilauea Volcanic system, which is the most active volcano in the world. We had to go to pre-flight to learn about safety, such as seat belts and life jackets, just in case we crashed!

When we got into our seats, we put on head sets so that we could hear the pilot explaining the tour. It was so cool. We lifted off and flew over Hilo and the surrounding area. We got to see the cinder cone where the lava will eventually fill the crater, like a lava lake and then it will flow over and head towards the ocean. Today there was not very much activity. There were steam vents where we could see lava flowing towards the ocean. We then flew towards the ocean where we could see the lava flowing into the ocean. There wasn't a lot, but I could see it. We were told that the surrounding water will heat to a tempature of 2000 degrees F. We also saw the many water falls and a macadamia nut farm farm. My Mother barfed in a bag.

Afterwards we went to one of the farmer's market in down town Hilo, the old area of Hilo.

We then bought lunch and went to the Japanese garden to eat. It was very nice. It had fish ponds!

Aloha ... Brandon
