Tarantulas

Our class pet

Our class pet is a spider her name is Rosy she is really big and she eats crickets and other bugs like grasshoppers. She lives in a tank beside the laptop. She has a reddish head and long black hairy legs, they are gross but I don’t mind her. She is a slow walker and her whole body is hairy. When she eats she sucks the blood out of the bug and eats that. I don’t really know if she eats the whole cricket’s body or just the blood. She also likes to get her cage cleaned. She loves to eat and to walk around the cage. She is a really good class pet but I am kind of scared of her because she’s a spider. I’m not that much of a spider person. She has really big fangs to suck the blood from her prey, which is another spider or a cricket or also a grasshopper. We use stuff called vermiculite it is a brown white and kind of gold color. It’s kind of like pellets they are for a garden but Rosy loves to walk in them. Her food climbs in her cage when they jump down she grabs them and eats them. When she breathes you can’t see it and it looks like she was dead, but if her cage moves she starts to move. She is a cool class pet. She’s a bit scary. I think she looks nice. She grew on me. I was so scared of her at first but now I think she is a good pet she looks so friendlyr. I like our class pet.

The Lunch Program

MRS. BERDAN April 12, 2007

Mrs. Berdan helps with the lunch program by handing out the lunches to the student’s lockers. Students have to sign up for them in the morning. Sometimes the lunches includes ham and cheese sandwiches, a tube (yogurt), a juice box and an apple. She is also a very nice person. The lunches are very healthy. You can sign up for the lunches in the primary lobby in the morning. We like the way she helps with the lunch program.

Rock Piles

Rock Piling

Today in social studies we learned about the gold rush and our teacher took us into a ditch to show us where the people 150 years ago moved rocks from one place to the other. They were looking for gold they were also called miners. One day as they were working they took a break and while they were on their break the dam broke and water went everywhere and flooded haft the people in Lillooet and it flushed out half of the town. Before that happened Lillooet was almost bigger than Vancouver. Then when the dam broke a lot of the people either left or got washed away because most of the people lived in tents and in was easy to get washed away. Way back then the miners used a pan called the gold pan that pan was used for scooping up the gold from the shore of the river. The people had to check a million times to see if it was real gold. A piece of gold was probably about 20 to 70 dollars. It took about 1 to 3 day’s to walk to the river.
